Hawthorn vs Carlton Match Report

On a Thursday Night in front of a big crowd of 62,735, Carlton needed to respond after last weeks shock loss and during the second quarter it looked like the hawks had control of the match leading by 14 points but the blues responded in the quickly kicking 4 out of the next 5 match leading by 14 points but the blues responded in the quickly kicking 4 out of the next 5 goals to have a 5 point lead at the half.

Just like last week the Blues just fell away quickly kicking just 2 goals in the third quarter and not kicking any in the last as the hawks overran them comfortably. That’s 2 weeks in a row where Carlton has scored just 2 second half goals and despite this Michael Voss said in his post match press conference “We’re running out games well”

Brisbane vs West Coast Match Report

West Coast had the longest trip in AFL Footy this week travelling across the country to the Gabba as Brisbane unveiled their premiership flag for their first home game. The Lions came in heavy favourites with the eagles coming off a flogging from the suns last week. Surprisingly the Eagles came out of the blocks by kicking the first 5 goals of the match with youngster Tyrell Dewar kicking 2 of them and at half time held onto a 24 point lead. The Lions came back to their known ways by dominating the third quarter kicking 5.3 to 1.6 and taking it to a 3 point game at three quarter time. The final quarter had a moment of a bit of controversy with West Coast superstar Harley Reid showing the middle finger to a Brisbane fan but Brisbane had the last laugh with a 19 point win

The final game of the round was out in Perth where two somewhat out of form teams played off on Sunday Afternoon. It wasn’t looking good for the swans to start off with them being goalless at quarter time compared to Fremantle’s 4.3. The swans came back and competed well to bring the half time margin back to 8 points. Sydney’s accuracy at goal were costing them during the game with Sydney having 7.12 at 3 quarter time.

The final quarter was a tussle between both sides with no goals scored until 14 minutes into the quarter when Jye Amiss slotted one to put the dockers 10 points up, Riley Bice then kicked one of his own to bring it back within a kick before spearhead Joel Amartey kicked the match winner with 2 minutes left on the clock
